Senior Portrait Info

Senior portraits are a very special time. They are typically the last portraits you’ll usually have done before your wedding day, the last photographs your friends will remember you by. It’s my goal to focus on expressing your style and personality in your photographs. Having you walk away thinking, “That was a fun experience and I can’t wait to see the images.” This is the way I like to end my session.

Senior Session Fee (Full) - $125

This session includes both Studio and Location of your choice. The fee is for time and talent, and will also include your senior portrait for the yearbook. The full session can last between 2-3 hours, depending on clothing changes and location. You’ll have 40-50 images to choose from. No limits on outfit changes, as time permits.

Location Session - $95

This session also includes your senior portrait for the yearbook. (Check to see if outside image meets with your yearbook guidelines). For the Location session plan on spending 1-2 hours, depending on clothing changes and traveling to locations. You’ll have 35-45 images to choose from. I suggest 4-5 changes, as time permits.

Mini Session - $65

This session can be on Location or Studio –Thirty minutes of time and one clothing change (2 outfits). You’ll have 10-15 images to choose from.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my friend come with me? Yes! Your friends will most likely make you more relaxed and help you to get natural expressions. While I am not opposed to parents coming, often times seniors are not relaxed when their parent is watching. Most parents are very considerate about stepping back and watching.

Is there any retouching included with my session fee? Yes, minor retouching is done on all proofs. Poses that are purchased will be looked over and given special attention. Anything beyond skin retouching and teeth whitening can be done at a rate of $25 per image.

How do you decide on locations? I have many favorite local locations, but I am constantly scoping out new and fresh locations for my seniors. When you book we can discuss what you are looking for in your portraits. Urban setting, the beach, a park or natural field the choice is yours. I am open to suggestions and new locations.

Do you have a studio? I set up my portable studio at a Gig Harbor location on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Because it portable, other arrangements can be made for special circumstances.

Can I use images for MySpace or Facebook? Images are copyrighted which means that even though the pictures are of you, you do not own the right to them. I will email you a low resolution, watermarked files of all poses that you purchase. You are then able to use them for your Facebook, or MySpace. The collection you purchase will determine how many images you will receive.

Can you take my yearbook portrait? If your school requires a traditional studio image; I will schedule yearbook pictures at the studio once a week for local seniors and the day of the session for out of the area seniors. You’ll want to schedule that photo in the same week as your session. Yearbook photos will be sent to the school when your order is placed.

How long do I have to order once my online gallery is up? Your gallery will be available for three weeks only. Your order must be placed within that period. There is a reloading fee of $25 for files that have expired. You may wish to purchase a proofing album of your images and file numbers if you wish to make purchases at a later date. I am willing to accept orders in person or phone ordering if requested. All other ordering is placed thru a secure online photo cart.

Can I purchase the proofs? If your order exceeds $500 you will be presented with a 3x5 bordered & watermarked spiral bound proof. The $500 purchase must be made at one time to receive the proofs. 8x10 proofing albums are another inexpensive alternative. In addition, we offer several unique products which allow you to incorporate many different poses.

Preparing for Your Session

What to Wear? Your senior pictures define who you are! This is your opportunity to express your style and personality. We embrace the upbeat styles from teens today. Listed below are some guidelines that will help you to put together a minimum of 4-6 outfits for your session.

Traditional yearbook portraits; If your school requires a traditional portrait please follow these guideline for the best looking image.

Guys; choose a solid colored dress shirt and tie, sports coat or a suit jacket. You do not need to wear dress slacks; they will not show in the portraits.

Girls; choose a solid colored dress, sweater, turtleneck or blouse. Colors to avoid are orange, red, hot pink, and white. Choosing a darker or neutral color with a simple neckline will work best.

Informal Portraits; these sessions are held primarily on-location, but can also be in studio. Taking time to put together 4-6 outfits prior to your session will make things go smoothly and allow for more variety in your session. Have your clothing pressed and on hangers. This will aid in keeping the session organized and will help to make your portraits look their best.

Girls; don’t try a new hairstyle the day before the session! We do not want you to look back later and wonder why you changed your hairstyle the day before the session!

Accessories such as jewelry, scarves, hats, heels and belts are wonderful compliments to outfits. Make sure to put coordination accessories in a small Ziploc bag with the matching outfit to make them more accessible during the session. I love to combine dressy with an urban flare or contrasting environment, so bring your prom dress, gown or something special that you would work well.

Choose at least one pair of nice darker denim jeans as well as your favorite ripped jeans or short, a nice blouse or sweater, a cute jacket or spring dress, or your favorite top. If you are all about flip-flops and polo’s that’s great, just bring a variety of choices. A tank top underneath makes changes on location a breeze.

When putting together your outfits try to make one of them something your mom loves even if you don’t! Everything else can be your style, your look; just do not forget what your mom loves.

Make-up; use a little more foundation then you would normally use. Bring your make up, especially your powder and lip-gloss for touch ups. Fake eyelashes are a great way to make your eyes stand out in photographs as well.

If you do not normally wear make up, please consider using a powder, mascara and chapstick or gloss.

Retouching is included in your session fee so do not worry about blemishes. Lastly relax and have fun!

Guys; if you are going to get your hair trimmed have it done about a week before your session.

When choosing 4-6 outfits include your favorite jeans, lettermen jacket, polo’s or t-shirts. Layered looks work well for guys, include your favorite hoodie or jacket.

Solid colors work best. Logo t-shirt are ok as long as you have a variety of other shirts to choose from.

Hats are great to bring as well, but remember to not wear it prior to your session to avoid a rim on your forehead.

If you are involved in sports and would like to have photographs with your equipment go ahead and bring it! Make sure to bring your jerseys as well. If music is your thing, bring your instrument. Don’t forget to wash your car!

Your session fee includes minor retouching so do not worry about a few blemishes! A fresh shave before your session will make you look great! Five o’clock shadow will show.

Lastly, relax and have fun. Even if your doing it just for your mom!
